The Art of Pottery
Shaped by Hand, Made with Heart
Each piece begins as raw earth and becomes something alive — sculpted, shaped, and fired with intention, care, and a deep love of the handmade.
A Practice Rooted in the Earth
Pottery found Shelley the way most meaningful things do — quietly, and at exactly the right moment. What began as a curiosity became a practice, and the practice became a passion that now shapes her days as much as her clay.
There is something profoundly grounding about working with your hands. Sculpting demands presence. The clay asks for patience. Every piece is a conversation between maker and material — and no two ever come out the same.
Shelley's work draws on the natural world: the textures of coastlines, the colours of tide pools, the quiet beauty of things worn smooth by time. Her pieces are made to be used, to be held, and to be loved.
From Clay to Finished Piece
Sculpting
Each piece is hand crafted and formed through patience and feel.
Trimming & Shaping
Once leather-hard, the piece is refined — trimmed, textured, and given its final character before drying.
Glazing & Firing
Glazes are chosen for their depth and warmth. Each kiln firing is its own small transformation.
A Selection of Recent Work
Functional pieces and one-of-a-kind works, each made by hand in Shelley's studio.
